Canciones Emblemáticas de los 80: Eye of the tiger

Hola fanáticos de la década de los ochenta, en esta nueva sección les ofrecemos la letra, la música, la historia y otros aspectos de una sola canción, en este caso la canción Eye of the tiger de la banda americana Survivor. Conocida en español como El Ojo del Tigre o La Mirada del Tigre es una canción del grupo Survivor, que figura en el álbum del mismo nombre. Fue lanzada el 29 de mayo de 1982 y escrita por Frankie Sullivan y Jim Peterik a petición del actor Sylvester Stallone para ser parte del soundtrakc de la película Rocky III. La canción llegó al top de las listas de varios países, en Norteamérica estuvo en el primer lugar de la revista Billboard durante seis semanas desde el 24 de julio de 1982. Sacando del primer lugar al tema "Don't You Want Me" de The Human League y siendo destronada del mimso por el tema "Abracadabra" de la agrupación Steve Miller Band. También lideró otras listas como la del Mainstream Rock Tracks. Otros áíses donde el tema alcanzó el primer lugar fueron Gran Bretaña, Irlanda, Canadá, Finlandia, Noruega y Australia. La canción fue galaedonada con un premio Grammy y es recordada siempre por su riff de guitarra y el coro a manera de himno. En 1982 llegó a obtener disco de platino lo que significaba ventas por 2 millones de copias en vinilo, ha vendido más de tres millones en ventas digitales por descarga hasta marzo de 2012 y es la canción más votada número 63 en el ranking de canciones de rock de VH1. Esta canción está disponible en los videojuegos musicales Guitar Hero: World Tour y Rock Band 2.
