Canciones emblemáticas de los 80: Careless Whisper

La canción Careless Whisper o como muchos la traducían, Susurro Indiscreto (o Descuidado) es un tema de George Michael aún cuando éste performaba con Wham! y la canción fue incluida en el álbum del dúo en 1984 llamado "Make it big". Es por esto que el single es considerado el primer número uno del artista y uno de los temas de la década que llegó a ocupar el primer lugar en mas de 25 países, consiguiendo, además el primer lugar en la lista de las hot 100 de la revista Billboard del año 1985. El tema fue, en un inicio, sacado al mercado como una canción de George Michael como solista, aún cuando era parte del dúo Wham!, de alguna manera el tema tenía que estar incluido en el álbum "Make it big" del dúo pues la composición no sólo era de George Michael sino también de su amigo y además compañero de grupo Andrew Ridgeley. Careless Whisper tuvo su origen varios años antes de ser lanzada el mercado, pues George Michael en uno de sus viajes había logrado grabar el tema con los arreglos del famoso productor Jerry Wexler, pero sin llegar a estar convencido del producto final, optó por grabar el tema nuevamente para que termine como una balada pop con un adicional solo de saxo hecho por Steve Gregory(miembro de Wham!), así el debut del single fue en agosto de 1984, llegando a ubicarse en el primer lugar en Gran Bretaña y después haciendo lo mismo en las listas musicales de una veintena de países más, conquistando también el número uno en el ranking semanal de la revista Billboard en febrero de 1985, donde la canción era presentada como un tema de Wham!

Careless Whisper habla de un momento crucial en la relación de dos amantes que tienen que terminar pues de algún modo uno de ellos tiene como pareja al amigo del otro y este momento tan difícil se da cuando bailan juntos y luego se despiden.
